NewSTEPs 360 Kickoff Meeting

The first annual NewSTEPs 360 Kickoff Meeting took place on January 21-22, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda in Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to build a learning collaborative environment and train awardees in continuous quality improvement. Awardees engaged in team building activities and received planning tools so that they are better equipped to address timeliness issues in newborn screening. During this two day meeting, teams identified root causes, develop SMART objectives, and created a plan to address their specific challenges. The learning collaborative approach allowed states with similar foci to ideas pertinent to their needs, resulting in a personalized approach to address timeliness challenges in their respective states.
