This three-part webinar series explores the current uses of sequencing and biochemical technology in public health newborn screening programs, the advantages and limitations of each approach, future applications of these methods, and the implications of moving forward with sequencing in newborn screening. We also explored equity, ethical, and privacy considerations related to sequencing, including issues around data ownership and protection, and informed consent.
Objectives:
- Discuss insights and strategies for utilizing biochemical and sequencing methods for newborns in the future
- Explore the ethical considerations related to sequencing
- Describe equity concerns related to sequencing and the use of variant filters
