Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) Resources for Newborn Screening (NBS) Public Health Programs

These resources for newborn screening (NBS) public health programs will provide information on the guidance of implementation of Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) NBS at the public health level.

Covidien has developed clinical education and non-clinical education modules that provide education about recommendations for early screening and monitoring for congenital heart disease in infants. PACE credits are available through these modules.
• The Masimo Corporation Heart Program offers support to hospitals in obtaining pulse oximeters.
• The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) has produced a written Issue Brief for CCHD encompassing costs, barriers, and strategies.
• The Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) has developed an issue brief highlighting effective practices and policies for states, specific roles for state newborn screening and birth defects programs, to consider when designing and implementing comprehensive CCHD screening programs.
