The Newborn Screening Molecular Training Workshop, sponsored by the Association of Public Health Laboratories and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will be held Monday, April 25 to Friday, April 29, 2016 at the CDC's Newborn Screening and Molecular Biology Branch Laboratories in Atlanta, GA.
This five day intensive workshop will include wet-lab activities as well as lecture and discussion. The focus of the workshop will be on molecular assays for a variety of newborn disorders. Laboratory activities will focus on DNA extraction, PCR-based assays, including single mutation detection, TREC qPCR and Luminex multiplex assay design. Discussion topics will include data reporting and interpretation, evaluation and QA/QC issues just to name a few.
APHL will cover travel, per diem and accommodations for laboratory workshop participants.
